Gaura Purnima

Sri Chaitanya, also known as Gauranga – the golden incarnation of Sri Krishna – appeared about 500 years ago in West Bengal, India. Gaura Purnima is the festival of His appearance, which takes place in the spring. Sri Chaitanya transformed the hearts of all those He met by chanting the Hare Krishna Maha Mantra and revitalizing the practice of Bhakti Yoga, which ISKCON continues to this day. Devotees fast on this day until the moonrise, followed by a feast in His honor.
