Sacred Calligraphy Workshop

Experience the potency of the Holy Names through meditative art of sacred writing.

Time & Location

20 Sept 2026, 11:00 – 13:30

Krishna Tempel Zürich, Bergstrasse 54, 8032 Zürich, Schweiz

About the event

Explore calligraphy as both an art form and a spiritual practice.

We begin by reflecting on the potency of the Holy Name and Sanskrit mantras, deepening our appreciation for sacred words and what truly matters to us. Through guided practice, you will explore different methods of writing and painting using pencil, brush pen, fountain pen, charcoal, and other media. You’ll gain practical skills and fresh ideas for creating beautiful handwritten letters, posters, and everyday artwork.

We will also study fundamental calligraphy techniques and letterforms, including an introduction to basic Sanskrit calligraphy. You will learn to write verses and mantras while developing a personal, devotional connection to the words you create.

No previous experience is needed. All levels are welcome.

This workshop will be taking place on Sunday, September 20, from 11:00 to 13:30.

Yamuna was born in Vietnam to parents who were practising Krishna Consciousness before her birth, and she spent a significant part of her childhood there, living under very simple conditions. She was homeschooled until fifth grade, after which her family moved to various countries, including India, Switzerland, and Hungary.

She later attended the Kantonsschule in Wetzikon, began further studies, and started associating more closely with the devotees in 2021. The temple, Jagannath, and the devotee community became her hope and home, where she lived for the past two years.

In November of 2025, she travelled to Govardhan Eco Village near Mumbai and completed the 500‑hour Yoga Teacher Training Course, which included a dedicated focus on Chakra Healing. This experience touched, supported, and transformed her deeply. She considers herself still in the early stages of becoming a better version of herself, yet she feels inspired and grateful to share the gift she has received.

"I grew up with my family in a remote place, where I spent much of my childhood painting and reflecting on life. From an early age, I was fascinated by pens, paints, artwork, and beautiful handwriting. In fourth grade, I attended a four-hour calligraphy course. Since then, I have loved writing verses, quotes, and the Holy Names of God in an artistic way. My artworks have been warmly appreciated, and I was encouraged to share this practice with others. I am grateful to now offer it as a workshop."
