Varaha Dvadasi and Nityananda Trayodasi

Sri Krishna appears in various forms according to the place, time, and circumstances to restore harmony in the world. Varahadeva is perhaps one of the most remarkable avatars of the Lord, as in this form, Krishna appears as a boar to rescue the Earth, which had sunk to the bottom of the ocean of causes. On this day, we remember this story, which is elaborately described in the Bhagavata Purana. Sri Nityananda's birth in this world is called Nityananda Trayodasi and takes place in the spring. Sri Nityananda, the brother of Sri Chaitanya, always accompanies the Lord in all of His incarnations: as Balarama – the beloved brother of Sri Krishna, and as Lakshmana – the younger brother of Lord Ramacandra. Nityananda is known for His compassion, even toward the most fallen beings, and is considered the original spiritual master of all seeking souls. Devotees fast on this day until noon, followed by a feast in His honor.
